Road Trip

Alright, Shauna and I left Monday, April 6th to start our grad school and wonders of nature road trip and it has been awesome! We drove to LA on Mon and stayed with Melissa and Jared for 2 nights. On Tuesday we went to the Natural History Museum and the La Brea Tar Pits, all free! We drooled for at least 45 minutes in the gem and mineral displays, I am in love with blue topaz and green beryl cut stones...also opals and so many others! All the minerals were beautiful, saw my beloved form of wulfenite and many minerals I had never heard of!

The whole museum was awesome as well...then we went to a new sushi place near the pits and it was incredible!  There was mango and tempura tuna and such yummy things...some of the best sushi ever! Then we went to the La Brea Tar Pits and it was so cool! We saw the tar bubble up and the museum had so many skeletons they had pulled from the pits as well, totally fun!!
More fun stuff coming :)

I am feeling a little lost without school to go to or attend...I am pretending I am on vacation to get through it.  If Shauna wasn't here I would probably go insane, but she gets it and everything and that makes it a little easier for me. I made an acupuncture appointment for Monday with a new person, have a new psychotherapist to help me manage my pain and not feel defeated, still need to start going to yoga again and call my Ayurvedic practitioner.  Anyways...here are some pictures from Christmas in Hawaii with madre. :)

Purest?

OK, so I enjoyed reading Inkheart and Inkspell and in the dedication of Inkspell the author makes it to the actors of Inkheart so I rented the movie.  I don't understand why people take a great book they want to make into a movie and then change it...and change stuff that doesn't need to be changed for a movie.  It irritates me to no end and makes me hate the movie when, if they had just kept true to the story, I would have loved the movie! Argh...

So, I am happy about going to Sonoma State...I still need o find out if they will be accepting transfers next school year.  Madre has been looking for houses down there and now she wants to buy it and then I can live in when I go to school...not too shabby for me since rent is expensive and at least the money will stay in the family.  She also might move in with Grandpa so she can rent or sell our house and save money, plus Grandpa is almost 91 and he is lonely up there alone and madre doesn't really enjoy living alone either and she has 4 more years of teaching so she can have good retirement pay.  It seems to be working out good, first madre was sad that I want to leave but she gets it now and isn't hurt any more, just jealous of getting out of Humboldt. I will miss my view from my backyard though (see below).

Pics fom Hawaii that I finally realized how to upload

Structure field trip to Big Island (Me, Dave, Asdis, Clint, Sam, Lauren)

Me the dork :)

Some awesome Pele's hair (golden glass fibers)

Volcanology field trip to the Big Island--Me and the ocean entry behind me the first day and before the hike-happy and relatively pain free and happy.

LAVA!!!!

Lava bomb that stretched after landing and became very beautiful :)

LAVA and me, it was toasty and I actually asked God to strike me dead a little later because the pain was unbearable and I couldn't imagine anything cooler that I could do, I would have died happy

Pulling lava from a flow, I was nervous and in tons of pain so I wasn't as excited or ready to deal with everything very well as I should have been...next time there will be way more lava hanging off my hammer!

Frozen burrito lunch cooked on a recent lava flow...they were done in a few minutes :)

Me at the end of the 3 day field trip, that I only made 2 of, and was sad to leave because I had already decided to take Spring off to deal with my migraines and felt like it might be the only time I ever get to do the stuff of my dreams...

Forgot how to add pics...

...Why don't my pics work anymore?!
